About SJID
Assessment Base
The assessment base for SJID is represented by approximately 25,000 acres. A per acre assessment is levied each year against the acres or fraction of acres thereof located within SJID. The annual (fiscal year) per acre assessment is approved annually by the Board of Supervisors as presented to the SJID landowners at the annual landowners meeting in May. The fiscal year commences October 1st and runs to September 30th of the following year.
Assessments are collected by the Indian River County Tax Collector. Assessments shown on your November notice are for the assessment period that began on October 1st.
Permits
Any and all uses of SJID property, rights-of-way, and/ or easements must go through the SJID Permit Application process and must be approved by the Board of Supervisors or their designee.
All non-farming construction must also be permitted.
SJID has permits with SJRWMD which regulate certain activities.
Water Quality Testing
SJID uses an independent, certified testing lab to perform quarterly water sampling from the reservoir. Reports are available in the office.
